This English translation of The Gospel Commentaries of Saint Theophylact of Ohrid presents a complete commentary on Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Written in the 11th century by Archbishop Theophylact of Ohrid, this work preserves the voice of the Church Fathers, drawing especially on Saint John Chrysostom while offering Theophylact’s own pastoral clarity and theological insight.

Each Gospel passage is explained verse by verse through patristic interpretation, Orthodox doctrine and spiritual application. The presentation is clear, pastoral and rooted in Holy Tradition, making this edition a valuable resource for Orthodox Bible study and the study of patristic theology.

It is also suited to clergy and seminarians preparing homilies, as well as readers who want a traditional Christian interpretation grounded in the consensus of the Fathers. Whether used for focused study or devotional reading, this volume offers a thoughtful companion to the Four Gospels.
