The Elect of the Nine Regalia Set, comprising a ceremonial apron and sash, is the official attire worn by Freemasons who have attained the 9th Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (AASR)—known as Elu of the Nine (or Elu des Neuf). This degree emphasizes themes of justice, loyalty, and the pursuit of truth, drawing from legendary accounts of vengeance and the punishment of treachery.
This solemn and striking regalia set visually reflects the gravity and moral weight of the degree, combining symbols of truth, light, and righteous judgment.
🔷 Apron – Elect of the Nine (9°)
Design & Materials:
Base Material: High-quality white lambskin or imitation leather, representing purity of intention and the Masonic journey toward enlightenment.
Border: Trimmed in black, symbolizing mourning, justice, and the somber responsibility of the Elect.
Flap (Bib): Triangular, edged in black, often featuring a red arm holding a dagger—a central emblem of the degree that signifies swift and righteous justice.
Center Emblem:
A bloody arm grasping a dagger may be embroidered or painted on the flap or apron body, signifying vengeance against betrayal and the pursuit of Masonic justice.
In some versions, additional symbols such as nine stars, a severed head, or a triangle may appear.
Fastening: White fabric ties or a black adjustable waist belt.
Symbolism:
White apron: Purity of motive.
Black trim: Mourning and gravity of duty.
Red dagger arm: Justice carried out in the name of truth, echoing the mission of the original Nine Elect in avenging the Master’s death.
🔷 Sash – Elect of the Nine (9°)
Design & Materials:
Style: Worn from the right shoulder to the left hip, traditional to chivalric and judicial degrees.
Color: Made of rich black moiré or satin ribbon, symbolizing the serious and judicial nature of the degree.
Emblems:
A red arm with dagger, nine-pointed star, or triangle may be embroidered or printed on the sash.
In some jurisdictions, inscriptions like “Elu des Neuf” or “9°” appear.
Decorative fringe in red or gold may be added at the base.
Symbolism:
Black color: Judicial office and solemn duty.
Red arm/dagger motif: Execution of justice without passion or prejudice.
Nine-pointed star: Enlightenment through righteous action and moral discernment.
