Allied Masonic Degrees (AMD) – Collarette (50mm)
The Allied Masonic Degrees (AMD) Collarette (50mm) is a formal and distinguished regalia item worn by AMD officers, recipients of honors, or members who need to display a jewel of office or distinction in an appropriate and elegant manner. Its proportions and craftsmanship reflect the dignity and symbolism inherent in the Allied Masonic tradition.
Design & Construction
Shape & Style:
The collarette is designed in a classic semi-circular or looped “V” shape, intended to drape neatly around the wearer’s neck and shoulders, with the point of suspension at the lower front where a jewel of office or honor may be displayed prominently.
Width:
At 50mm (approximately 2 inches) wide, this collarette offers a substantial and formal appearance, larger than narrow collarettes but slimmer than a full ceremonial collar, striking a perfect balance between elegance and presence.
Material:
Crafted from high-quality moiré silk ribbon, noted for its distinctive “watered” texture that subtly reflects light, adding depth and refinement to its appearance. The fabric is durable and designed to maintain its shape and luster over time.
Color Scheme:
Principal Color:
The traditional color for AMD regalia is a rich emerald green, symbolizing enlightenment, wisdom, renewal, and the fertile ground of Masonic knowledge that the Allied Masonic Degrees seek to cultivate.
Edge Trim:
This standard 50mm collarette is typically plain-edged (no additional braiding or lace), maintaining a simple and refined appearance suitable for general AMD officer use, but it may optionally feature a fine gold trim for officers of distinction, such as Grand Officers or past officers.
Embellishments & Decoration:
The body of the collarette is generally unadorned, allowing the focus to remain on the jewel suspended from it, which identifies the wearer’s specific rank or honor.
Suspension Point:
A reinforced hook, slider, or stitched loop at the base of the collarette ensures secure and proper display of the jewel of office or recognition.
Lining:
The interior of the collarette is typically lined with soft satin or silk in a complementary shade (commonly black or deep green), which provides comfort, structure, and durability for regular ceremonial use.
Fastening:
Designed for practicality and comfort, the collarette is equipped with a secure clasp or adjustable fastening mechanism at the rear, allowing it to be easily worn and adjusted to suit different neck sizes.
Symbolism:
The emerald green color directly associates the wearer with the Allied Masonic Degrees and its core principles of knowledge, virtue, and enlightenment.
The collarette itself symbolizes dignity and duty, offering a formal yet unobtrusive method of displaying one’s jewel of office or honor.
